More on the Mexican Election

Yesterday,CBC news ran a piece on AMLO, who was wrapping up his campaign on Wednesday with a huge rally in Mexico City. He had a fantastic speech (from what I heard of it) but still, no one holds a decisive lead. It's still a statistical dead heat. Even Madrazo is still a (theoretical) contender.

By the time we step off the plane in Mexico City, a winner will be declared. At least that's the hope of the Mexican Federal Electoral Institute.

But until then, anything could happen.

For folks like me, this is better than Game Seven of the Stanley Cup.

Election News

Keeping in mind that we arrive in Mexico the day after the election,. Here's one person's take on what could happen on Sunday, electorally. Here's another.

Could be very interesting in Mexico City when we step off the plane.

Time is getting short. My checklist is almost all crossed off. My bag is 50% packed. This is very cool.

I’m glad the weather is as hot as it is, that way we can ease into the warmth of the big Mexican sun without being blasted.

I don’t know about you, but my biggest trepidation about this trip has been the heat. I don’t do heat well. At all.

But these past few days have been a great in terms of getting used to being uncomfortably warm.

I went to the Salvation Army and to Catholic Charities and bought some really light clothing. I’m told that, for cultural reasons, shorts aren’t always acceptable in Mexico, so I picked up some light kakis and –gasp- a Hawaiian shirt.

Me. Wearing bright colours. My children laughed.
